Police have raided the home of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.
In a statement, the DAP-K party has confirmed that a heavy contingent of police officers has raided the Governor’s home in Kitale.
“A heavy contingent of police officers in plain cloth, well masked have gained access to Governor George Natembeya, Milimani’s home in Kitale. Such Moi tactics won’t work in the current life. Stop using security apparatus to settle political scores,” read part of the statement.
Plainclothes police officers present at Natembeya’s home are believed to be attached to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Angry residents have also camped outside the Trans Nzoia governor’s home to stop his arrest.
The raid at Natembeya’s home has been condemned by a section of Kenyans including People’s Liberation Party (PLP Martha Karua.
“I am asking Wiliam Ruto and his regime , why all the drama? Why do you raid a governor’s home like is a flight risk? Do the police have a warrant to go and terrorise Governor George Natembeya and his family ? ” Karua condemned.

Natembeya’s home being raided comes hours after the Wiper Party Leader Klaonzo Musyoka claimed that there is a plan to arrest Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.
According to the Wiper Party leader, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had obtained a search warrant to search Natembeya’s properties and apprehend him on Monday, May 19 2025.
Trans Nzoia Governor Protests Leasing of Sugar Companies
Natembeya who spoke at a function on Sunday said that the police should not be used to settle political scores.
“We should stop using the police to solve our political problems. Law enforcement exists to uphold the rule of law, not to be a tool for political agendas,” the Trans Nzoia Governor said.

The Trans Nzoia Governor has been vocal in his criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration led by President William Ruto, with the latest issue being the leasing of sugar companies in the western region to private investors.
Natembeya has called for the cancellation of the 30-year lease of Nzoia Sugar Company, arguing that it was done without the consent of the farmers.
He believes that leasing these companies to private investors, such as the Rai Group, will harm the local economy and deepen poverty in the region.
