Marianne Kitany is an ICT professional and a politician who was elected as a first-time Member of Parliament in the 2022 general elections under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
She represents the Aldai Constituency in Nandi County.
Marianne Kitany rose to fame after her estranged relationship with former Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Franklin Mithika Linturi became public.
In May 2025, she again hit the headlines for sponsoring The Kenya Information and Communications (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
The bill proposes the introduction of metered billing systems for internet service providers (ISPs) in Kenya, requiring them to assign unique identifiers to subscribers to monitor usage, generate consumption-based invoices, and allow user verification of bills.
In addition, the bill has provisions granting the ICT Cabinet Secretary powers to monitor ISPs, telecoms, and cyber operators.
Career of Marianne Kitany
Prior to joining politics, Kitany served at the office of the Deputy President, who at the time was William Ruto, Kenya’s current President. She worked as the Chief of Staff at the office from 2013 to 2016.

She also worked as an ICT manager at the Kenya Railways parastatal from 2003 to 2007. Marianne served in a similar role at Hamilton Harrison and Mathews Advocates from 2003 to 2007.
Before joining Hamilton Harrison and Mathews Advocates, she served as an ICT Manager for the Energy Regulatory Commission (EPRA).
Education Background
Marianne Kitany holds a Global Executive from Columbia University and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA). She also holds a Certificate in Leadership and Change Management.
Additionally, she has a Master of Science in Information Technology from the University of Nairobi.
Kitany also holds a Bachelor of Education (Arts) from Kenyatta University.
She is an alumnus of Alliance Girls High School, where she pursued her high school education.
Family
Marianne has been married twice.Her first marriage was to a colleague she met while working at a local bank during her early twenties.
The marriage produced two children and ended in divorce after 13 years. Her second marriage was to Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, which she claimed began with a customary marriage under Meru and Nandi customs on April 16, 2016.

This union was highly publicized due to a contentious divorce case, with Kitany alleging significant financial contributions to their shared properties and accusing Linturi of infidelity and cruelty.
However, Linturi denied the marriage, claiming Kitany was just a guest in his home.

The Aldai MP has never publicly declared her wealth, however, during her 2019-2020 divorce case against Mithika Linturi, while he was Meru Senator, Kitany testified in court that she was already a millionaire before meeting Linturi, indicating significant personal wealth by 2013.
