Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan has named a new cabinet days after being sworn in as the president of Tanzania. The new cabinet is set to be sworn in on Tuesday morning, November 18.
Addressing the press on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the State House in Chamwino, Suluhu appointed 27 cabinet secretaries and 29 deputies to the new government.

In her address, Suluhu named Adolf Mkenda to lead the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. Mkenda will be deputized by Wanu Hafidh Wazir, the president’s daughter.
Mohammed Mchengerwa, who is the son-in-law of the president, was also appointed as the Minister of Health, who will be deputized by Florence Samizi.

Jakaya’s son appointed to the cabinet
President Samia also named Ridhiwani Jakaya Kikwete as the minister of Public Service Management and Good Governance, who will be deputized by Regina Ndege Kwarai. Ridhiwani is the eldest son of the former President of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete.
He attended Shabaan Robert Secondary and Mkwawa Secondary schools before joining the University of Dar es Salaam, where he earned a Bachelor of Laws degree. He later joined the University of Dodoma and graduated in 2023 with a Master’s degree in International Relations. Ridhiwani is also a member of Chama Cha Mapinduzi.
Profile of Samia Suluhu’s daughter
Wanu Hafidh Ameir was born on February 9, 1982, in Unguja, Zanzibar. She is the daughter of Samia Suluhu and Hafeidh Wazir.

Wanu, 43, has served as a Member of the Zanzibar House of Representatives since 2005, representing Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Tanzania’s ruling party, just like her mother.
She attended Kwanda Secondary School and then joined the Open University of Tanzania, where she graduated in 2018 with a degree in Law.
Before her appointment, Wanu was a member of the Zanzibar House of Representatives since 2005, serving as a Member of Parliament for Makunduchi Constituency.
She will now serve as a deputy minister after being appointed by President Samia Suluhu
Wanu is married to Mohammed Mchengerwa, who has been a minister in Tanzania’s cabinet. Following her mother’s footsteps, she has been vocal and active in Tanzanian politics. During the 2025 general election, Wanu assisted her mother, Samia Suluhu, in the campaigns, which ultimately led to her victory.
