The Public Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Paul Famba as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a period of five years effective August 1, 2024.
The Commission made the announcement in a press release on Wednesday, June 5.

According to the PSC, the appointment is in exercise of its powers under Section 15(2) of the Public Service Commission Act.
Famba is replacing Dr. Simon Rotich whose tenure as CEO ends in July 2024.

“Mr. Famba, who is currently the Secretary of Administration in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Arts degree in Peace and Conflict Management from Kenyatta University.
He replaces Dr. Simon Rotich whose tenure as Secretary/Chief Executive Officer comes to an end in July 2024,” the statement read.

In addition, the commission acknowledged that the incoming CEO would be bringing with him a wealth of experience as a career administrator having served in senior positions in government.
“The incoming CEO brings to the Commission a wealth of experience as a career administrator, having served in senior positions in the Government as Assistant County Commissioner, State Protocol Officer, Deputy County Commissioner and Director of Administration,” they shared.
PSC described Famba as an accomplished public servant with outstanding service to the nation, having received awards from President William Ruto.
These rewards included Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) and Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya (OGW).
“The Commission takes this opportunity to welcome and congratulate Mr. Famba on his new appointment,” the statement indicated.

What Awaits the New Public Service Commission CEO
The CEO/Secretariat of the Public Service Commision, holds the responsibility to drive the Commission Secretariat and to enable the Commission to deliver its mandate.
Famba will be responsible for the execution of the decisions of the commission, assignment of duties and supervision of the staff of the commission and ensuring compliance by the staff with the values and principles of the public service.
Additionally, he will be responsible for the preparation and submission of the programs necessary for the achievement of the commission’s mandate and the performance of any other duties as assigned by the commission.
According to the regulations, the CEO’s tenure is five years, with the possibility of reappointment once.
PSC picked Famba from a pool of 11 shortlisted candidates.
