Retail chain Quickmart has responded to public outrage following a viral video of two siblings who alleged that a manager assaulted them at its Buruburu branch over the alleged theft of milk.
In the video, which circulated widely on social media, the customers recounted how a manager at the supermarket verbally abused and physically assaulted them after a misunderstanding at the milk deposit section (ATM).
They explained that upon arriving at the section, they found no staff member present and decided to deposit the milk themselves.
After doing so, they proceeded to the cashier, made the payment, and were issued a receipt—only to be confronted later over claims of theft.
“We stood there for quite some time, and since we had never purchased milk in the supermarket before, we thought it was self-service. We poured the milk into our bottle and inserted the same amount,” one of the siblings said.
Manager Assaults Siblings Over Alleged Theft of 57 Litres of Milk
Moments after leaving the supermarket, the two were summoned back and questioned about why they had deposited the milk themselves.
The situation quickly escalated into chaos after the manager allegedly snatched and tore their receipt, accusing them of stealing 57 litres of milk.
They claim that’s when they were forcefully taken to the storage unit, where they were assaulted for allegedly depositing 57 litres of milk into a 2-litre container.
“Our container could carry the capacity of two liters alone. We were very confused. The manager took us to the control unit and started beating both my brother and me. When I questioned why he was beating us, he refused to respond,” one of the siblings explained.
