Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has warned Orange Democratic Movement Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna against his aggressive approach towards leaders who are working for the Kenya Kwanza government, and reminded him that, as the official spokesperson, he speaks on behalf of the party.
Speaking during the funeral of the late Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Were, Odinga pledged support for ODM leaders working in the broad-based government.
“The Secretary-General is our spokesman. When he speaks, he speaks for the party. But Mr. Sifuna, don’t be too aggressive,” Odinga said.
Further, he urged ODM members to remain united and stressed the importance of having a firm stand on key issues.

Raila also addressed party members’ concerns regarding the ongoing relationship with Kenya Kwanza.
“We have an arrangement with Kenya Kwanza, and we are committed to seeing the fulfilment of the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Kenya is bigger than any individual,” he said.

Former Prime Minister Mourns Charles Were
ODM leader Raila Odinga paid an emotion tribute to the late Kasipul MP Charles Were, remembering him as a man of peace, integrity, and humility.
The former Prime Minister said he was instrumental in introducing Were to Kasipul, where he would later rise to become Member of Parliament.
Further, he recalled an instance when the late Kasipul MP jumped into his car and revealed that he feared for his life.
“He told me people were following him. He said agents had been hired to kill him. Some were arrested, but others remain at large. These people are known,” Raila disclosed.

How He Knew About His Death
In his tribute, the former Prime Minister revealed that Central Organization of Trade Unuions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli was the one who broke the tragic news to him.
“Atwoli called and said he was dead. I rushed to Nairobi Hospital, and I arrived there within five minutes,” he added.
He also delivered condolences from President William Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
