During her vetting back on October 17, 2022, the issue was also brought up by the vetting committee who questioned her regarding the incident.
“You were captured roughing up an IEBC official, from where you sit, how would you take this act considering the Constitution provides that authority assigned to a state officer mentions respect for the people…and honor and dignity to the office?”
In her response Wahome expressed her regret over the incident noting that the matter could’ve been “handled better.”
Additionally, her vocal criticism of former President Uhuru Kenyatta drew both support and ire.
Wahome accused Kenyatta of undermining democratic freedoms and mismanaging the economy, sentiments that resonated with many in the Mt. Kenya region who felt sidelined.
