Robert Nagila shared memories of their life together with Rita Tinina, recalling her profound influence and the void her absence has left.
In a requiem mass held at Holy Family Basilica on Monday, March 25 morning, friends, family, and colleagues gathered to bid farewell to the late journalist Rita Tinina.
Despite his grief, Nagila expressed determination to carry on Rita’s legacy, emphasizing her impact on their daughter and the profound love they shared.
“Today as I stand here before you, I’m broken, we all chase a legacy that we hope to be remembered with, but what is remarkable is Rita established her own legacy and just shy of her 46th birthday,”
“Know this (daughter) you are loved so much, and there is nothing we cannot do for you,” he said.

Robert Nagila, further spoke tenderly of his late partner, recalling her captivating beauty and infectious laughter.
“Your beauty, hearty laughter, and warm heart are the things that drew me to you. Your passing has left a void that cannot be filled but I’m comforted by the fact that the memories of times spent will live on.” said Nagila.
Yet, amidst fond memories they shared together, Nagila revealed a facet of Rita’s character that distinguished her: her unwavering stubbornness.
The requiem mass, presided over by a grieving congregation, served as a poignant tribute to a woman remembered not only for her professional prowess but also for her warmth and resilience.

Rita Tinina’s journey in journalism commenced in 1999 at Citizen TV, where she quickly made her mark with her unwavering dedication to her craft.
Revered by peers and viewers alike, she held a special affinity for prime-time news, a testament Nagila held to express her commitment to staying informed and informing others.

Additionally, Olive Burrows, Rita’s niece, painted a picture of a woman who was not only a trusted confidant but also a pillar of strength for those around her.
Describing Rita as a lady of few yet profound words, Burrows highlighted her selfless devotion to her family, a quality that resonated deeply with all who knew her.
As the requiem mass drew to a close, tributes poured in from all corners, underscoring Rita’s indelible legacy.
Fred Gumo, called to speak by Nagila and who has stood as a father figure to Nagila in the absence of his own father, expressed profound shock at Rita’s sudden demise, reminiscing about her presence at his own father’s funeral just last year.
In a final farewell to his beloved partner, Nagila’s heartfelt words were filled with love and loss.

“We miss you dearly, Mama Mia,” he uttered, pointing towards the collective sentiment of all who had gathered to honor Rita’s memory.
Following the requiem mass, Rita Tinina’s final resting place will be at her family home in Noosupeni Farm, Olokirikirai, Narok County, where she will be laid to rest on Wednesday, March 27.
“Though she may be gone, her spirit and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her,” he said.
