The Russian government has announced an educational opportunity for Kenyan students with 70 fully funded spots at Russian universities under a tuition-free scholarship program.
The Russian Embassy in Kenya confirmed that the application window opened on September 15 through the official portal education-in-russia.com, offering Kenyan students the chance to study undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate programs in Russia without paying tuition fees.
“Applications are now open for the Russian Government Scholarship! Apply and submit the documents and by early December 2025” the notice read.
To apply, candidates must create a profile on the portal, choose their preferred level of education and up to six universities, and upload required documents, including a valid passport scan, academic transcripts, and proof of education.

Step-by-Step on How to Apply
To apply:
- Register on the website, go to the “My Applications” section, and click “Create a new application”.
- Choose your level of education, major, and up to six universities.
- Upload:
- scan of the passport
- a scan of the education document (if you are still studying – a certificate from the place of study)
- Scan with ratings.
For applicants to residency or postgraduate studies, a motivation letter, an essay, or an article on the topic of the upcoming research is also required
Be sure to click the “Send request for verification” button. Applications in the “Draft” status do not participate in the competition!
Candidate Holding Dual Russian Citizenship
Postgraduate applicants must also submit a motivation letter and a research essay.
“Only foreign citizens are eligible to participate in the quota,” the embassy stated.
“If the candidate holds dual Russian citizenship, they must reside permanently outside Russia and not hold previous education certificates issued by Russian institutions.”

Applicants must ensure their submission is finalized by clicking “Send request for verification,” as incomplete applications in “Draft” status will not be considered.
The program is coordinated by Rossotrudnichestvo, Russia’s federal agency for international humanitarian cooperation.
The agency also operates a hotline for inquiries: +7 (985) 870-21-27.
This initiative continues Russia’s longstanding academic partnership with African nations, aiming to improve cross-cultural academic exchange and international development through education.
Interested applicants are advised to prepare early.
