President William Ruto has ordered the construction of Mama Wahu Road in Ngando Estate where he was residing when he first met First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto.
Speaking during the official opening of Lenana Primary School, Ruto told Transport PS Joseph Mungai Mbugua to complete the unconstructed parts of the road.
“We, the residents of Ngando, are urging you to construct this road. Work closely with the governor; he initiated it, but progress stalled. Take over and complete the remaining 2 kilometers. I will ensure you receive the funds needed for this project,” he said.
Ruto revealed that he used to stay at someone’s house within the estate when he started wooing Mama Rachel.
“I am doing this work because I used to stay here in Ngando, I even started talking to Mama Rachel when I was here. This place is full of blessings, and I cannot forget,” he said.
“I was staying with a certain woman here, and I know that we will work together to change the face of Ngando.”
Ruto Launches New Primary School
The President launched 22 classrooms set to accommodate 1,300 students at the new school – Lenana Primary School.
He explained that the school will bring together students who have been forced to walk long distances to get educations.
“These students are from over ten different schools, and they are united here and this school will be theirs. We still have a lot to do in this school, but I promise you that we will complete it,” he said.

Ruto said the available classrooms will only accommodate grades one to four, adding that the government will speed up works to include other classes.

Besides, the head of state volunteered to build the remaining 24 classrooms to ensure all students in Ngando get the chance to learn.

He ordered the contractor in charge to commence work immediately and pledged to build another school in the area.
“Our children who are still at home or attending far schools, just give me two months and I will be back to launch another school that we will build here so that grades four, five, and six students can come to school,” he said.
Ruto said the national government contributed Ksh40 million while the area Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie allocated Ksh20 million to start the constructions of Lenana School Primary.
