Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro wants the ongoing bipartisan talks terminated immediately.
Speaking at St Mary’s catholic Cathedral Church in his Kiharu constituency on Sunday, August 20, the MP said the talks between Azimio and the Kenya Kwanza are a waste of time as Kenyans already decided their leaders.
‘The people who have employed us, that is the wananchi spoke last year and decided who will lead them and who will be the leader of opposition or put the government on check,” Kiharu MP said.
Furthermore, Nyoro who is a close ally of President William Ruto, said termination of the talks should be the first agenda for the two sides when they resume the talks at the Bomas of Kenya on Monday, August 21.
Ndindi Nyoro rules out power sharing
“So, with no doubt and with a lot of certainty, me as Ndindi Nyoro and the people of Murang’a, Kiharu and Kenya at large, we are pleading that on Monday as the talks resume, the first agenda should be actually to terminate the talks,”
Furthermore, the MP said that he is against the bipartisan talks and is more interested in the development of the country.
“We are against this issue of people talking, calling them bipartisan talks and should stop at once as we don’t need it as a country as all is needed in Kenya is development.
On his part, Kikuyu Mp Kimani Ichung’wah said the bipartisan talks are for discussing how Azimio will stop demonstrations.
“The other day the President gave me a role to lead the bipartisan talks. I told Azimio leaders led by Kalonzo Musyoka that on the bipartisan talks we shall discuss how the party will stop using the youths to throw stones at the police,” Ichung’wah said.
According to the legislator, the talks are a tactic by the ruling government to tame the opposition in sabotaging the economy, ruling out the possibility of a handshake between Ruto and Raila Odinga.
“We shall also discuss how the Azimio leaders will stop causing chaos after every election in the country. We shall not discuss handshake or power sharing,” the Kikuyu MP said.
Moreover, the Majority leader in the National Assembly told Azimio leaders that they cannot escape reality forever and that they will have to accept they lost elections.
“You can’t run away from the truth. Kenya went to the polls on 9.8.2022, H.E. William Ruto was declared President. The earlier we accept that truth the better for everyone,” Kimani Ichung’wah noted.
