President William Ruto has led residents of Nakuru in a “We want peace chant” against protests in the country during the inspection of Nakuru Bus Park.
While speaking to the residents, the head of state pleaded with them to refrain from protests and the destruction of property.
Ruto also asked the residents to promise to stay away from violent activities adding that Kenyans will only be able to work and earn a living when there is peace in the country.
“I am pleading with you, humbly, young people of Kenya, please do not allow others to turn our country into chaos and destruction of property.
“Will we not maintain peace? Let me see by a show of hands those who promise to remain peaceful?” Ruto asked as the crowd responded with cheer, shouts and hands raised.

Ruto Leads Residents in a Chant
Additionally, he said that because every community in Kenya was represented in Nakuru, their voice against protests was the voice of the people of Kenya.
“That is the voice of Nakuru, they have said that they do not want violence, chaos and they do not want to destroy property belonging to Kenyans. They want to maintain peace to allow every Kenyan to get a chance to work and be self-sufficient,
“Nakuru is a county that has representation of every Kenyan community. I love you Nakuru because you have maintained peace. Are you saying that you want peace?” said Ruto.
Shortly after, the president led his listeners in a “We Want Peace” chant, prompting them to repeat the phrase five times.
“You want peace? Then let us all chant that we want peace?” he said before the chant began.
“That is our stand as Kenyans. We will stop all the influential people who think that they can use money to buy goons to destroy property in Kenya.”

Ruto on Bodies Discovered at Kware
Moreover, Ruto reiterated that the government would take action against the perpetrators of the murders of victims whose bodies have been discovered in Kware area in Mukuru Kwa Njenga in a quarry.
According to Ruto, the murders are works of criminals who are out to target women and the people of Kenya, adding that they have to be stopped.
“Our daughters have lost their lives in Kware because of criminals. I want to tell the country that those behind the criminal activity, against our children, against our daughters in Kware.
“All of them, the government of Kenya will make sure that they are brought to book and charged so that we can stop criminality and protect our daughters and all the citizens of the republic of Kenya.
