President William Ruto has made a series of appointments and reappointments to the boards of several state agencies, including the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO).
The changes, contained in Gazette Notices issued on August 7, 2026, affect institutions in the wildlife, agriculture, transport, roads, water, trade and education sectors.
Under Gazette Notice No. 11981, President Ruto reappointed Lucy W. Waruingi as Chairperson of the Governing Board of the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund for a further three-year term.
Her appointment takes effect from August 7, 2026, and was made under the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 23 (2) (a) of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, re-appoint—Lucy W. Waruingi as the Chairperson of the Governing Board of the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 7th August, 2026.”
Ruto Appoints New KALRO Chairperson
Ruto also appointed Benson Gichohi Ngure as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO).
The appointment was made under Section 6(1)(a) of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Act and takes effect from August 7, 2026.
Ngure will serve as KALRO chairperson for a period of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Benson Gichohi Ngure to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization, with effect from the 7th August 2026.

CS Chirchir Reappoints Three to NaMATA Board
At the same time, several Cabinet Secretaries made the other appointments published in the Gazette notices in their respective ministries.
Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir reappointed Anna Robai Makawa, Dominic Kipkoech Koskei and Annastacia Mumbua Musyimi as members of the Board of Directors of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (NaMATA).
The three officials will serve for a period of three years from August 7, 2026.
Chirchir also appointed Mohamed Rashid Abdille as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) for three years.
Wildlife Fund Gets Four Board Members, Trade Remedies Agency New Chair
On her part, Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano reappointed George Fredrick Mosiori, Mark Rotich and Jane Naini Meriwas as members of the Governing Board of the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund.
Miano also appointed Robert Nyanjui Wainaina as a member of the board.
The appointments will run for three years from August 7, 2026.
Investment, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui also appointed Aaron Nanok as Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Trade Remedies Agency.
Nanok will serve for three years with effect from August 7, 2026.
CS Ogamba Makes Changes to University Councils
In addition, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba made several appointments to university councils.
Ogamba reappointed Prof. Ezra Maritim as Chairperson of the Council of the Open University of Kenya for three years.
He also reappointed or appointed Lawrence Muchilwa, Dr Susan Kiragu and Dr McOkwiri Kevin Juma as members of the council.
At Nyandarua University College, Ogamba appointed Mumbi Kahindu, Christine Jepyegon Ronoh, Job Wafula Chelongo, Peter Maru Kariuki and Julius G. Obare Mokogi as members of the council for three years.
At Laikipia University, Fatuma Abdi was appointed as a member of the university council for three years. In doing so, Ogamba revoked Gazette Notice No. 11252 of 2026.
Ogamba also appointed Dr David Gikungu as a member of the Council of Meru University of Science and Technology for three years.

Water Agencies Receive New Board Appointments
Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eric Murithi Mugaa reappointed Patrick Musili Mbangula as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Water Institute for three years.
Muga also reappointed Mwololo Benjamin Kyalo as a member of the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority for three years.
Changes at National Lottery Board and Ewaso Ng’iro North Board Appointment
Gender, Culture and Children Services Cabinet Secretary Hanna Wendot Cheptumo appointed Caroline Jerobon Rotich as a member of the National Lottery Board for three years.
The appointment revoked that of Teresia Jerusah Michael, which had been made through Gazette Notice No. 14799 of 2024.
East African Community, ASALs and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul Moe reappointed Joseph Lorunyei Kuwam as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ewaso Ng’iro North River Basin Development Authority.
Kuwam’s appointment will run for one year from August 7, 2026.
