President William Ruto’s son-in-law Alexander Ezenagu has threatened to close down all companies affiliated to him if any proof of claims made against them is presented.

Ezenagu dared anyone with proof about the claims that resources from taxpayer’s money were being channeled to a couple of listed companies, some affiliated to him, by the government.

In a statement through his X account on June 3 that has since been deleted, the businessman who is the husband to President Ruto’s daughter, June, responded to allegations against the companies which had been published by blogger Cyprian Nyakundi.

In his defense, Ezenagu said that he was ready to close down all the companies which are affiliated to him if he proved that taxpayers’ resources were indeed channeled to his business.

Ezanugu further highlighted his achievements and career, asking the blogger to conduct a background check on both before making any allegations.

Ezenagu Dares for Proof of Claims

“If you can prove to me a shilling of government money went to these companies, I will close all of them. What should the kids do? Disappear? Run away? Before you reply, check my bio and CV. I am a graduate of Cambridge University and PHD Law from Mc Gill Faculty of Law,” he said.

Ezenagu made the remarks while responding to allegations that several listed companies affiliated to President Ruto’s family were being funded using taxpayer’s money.

The allegations suggested that resources from the Kenyan Youth Fund were being diverted to the said companies by the government.

“These entities are misusing state funds meant for the youth to sponsor events and clubs, draining resources from Kenya’s struggling economy,” the allegations read.

Ezenagu who is a businessman and lawyer from Nigeria made waves in Kenya back in 2021 when he married President Ruto’s firstborn daughter June.

Career & Appointments

He is the Founder and Chief Consultant of full-service professional firm Sapient Consulting Group, with offices in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, among others.

The Nigerian is a professor of law with a career spanning over 13 years across different continents and holds a PhD in Civil Law from McGill University, Canada.

Back in September 2023, Ezenagu was appointed as the director of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) Policy and Development Centre at Strathmore University Business School and a senior research Fellow at the Institution.

“At Strathmore University Business School, Dr. Ezenagu will lead the AfCFTA Policy Centre in its mission to become a premier institution dedicated to advancing research, knowledge dissemination, and capacity building in trade, policy, and investment,” a statement by Strathmore read.

“His exceptional background in international corporate taxation, competition law, and corporate finance will play a pivotal role in guiding the Centre’s initiatives.”

June Ruto “Appointment” Clarified

Ezenagu’s defense also comes at a time when President Ruto’s daughter June has been in the limelight after reports that she had landed a new government role.

According to the reports, June had been appointed as Director of Foreign Services and Participant at the National Defense College.

However, Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale in an interview on July 3, clarified that June was among the sixty-seven students who were starting their classes at the National Defense College in the academic year 2024/25.
