The Jubilee Party has issued a cease-and-desist letter to nominated member of the National Assembly Sabina Chege.
In a letter seen by The Kenya Times, Chege’s woes are stemming from her affiliations with the Kenya Kwanza Coalition while holding herself as the former ruling party’s leader.
“We are accordingly instructed to demand as we hereby do that you cease and desist forthwith from holding yourself out as the party leader of the Jubilee Party and from issuing any communication in the name of or on behalf of the Jubilee Party,” read part of the letter dated January 26.
According to the letter from Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni through his lawyer, Chege was unlawfully masquerading as the ‘party leader and spokesperson’.
She is accused of doing so in pressers and meetings purportedly convened under the auspices of the Jubilee Party.
Chege was warned that if she continues passing off or holding herself out as the party leader, the party will commence contempt of court proceedings against her.
This also applies to any person who publicly associates with the violations complained of without further reference to the former deputy minority whip.
Why Jubilee party is jittery about Sabina
The former Murang’a County women representative is also accused of publicly misusing and abusing the party’s insignia.
Further, she is accused of doing so in a manner deliberately calculated to mislead and confuse members of the party and the public at large into joining and promoting the policies of another political party and coalition.

The party and coalition in question are the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Kenya Kwanza Coalition respectively, which Chege is accused of promoting.
According to the letter, the Jubilee party is a principal and founding member of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition.
“The Delegates’ decision was affirmed by the High court, following the concerted attempts by a cross section of officials of the party, including yourself, to second guess the same,” added the letter.
Party leader and spokesperson
The party recognized former president Uhuru Kenyatta and Jeremiah Ngayu Kioni as the leader and spokesperson respectively.

Also, Chege is accused of unlawfully acting in bad faith and in flagrant betrayal of the mandate of the larger membership of the Jubilee Party.
The party accuses her of doing so in pursuit for personal objectives that have no rational or other connections whatsoever with the mandate that the Bonafide leadership of the Party.
