A company has announced the closure of roads and airstrips for 24 hours in 3 counties, as private roads, footpaths and an airstrip in parts of Kiambu, Nyeri and Sotik will be temporarily closed for 24 hours on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, according to notices published in the Kenya Gazette by Sasini PLC.
The closure will begin at 6:00 a.m. and last for 24 hours. Sasini said the measures are intended to prevent parties from claiming adverse possession of private roads, footpaths, and other company-owned property.
“NOTICE is given that all private roads and footpaths on the following estates owned by the company will be closed on Tuesday, 13th October, 2026, for 24 hours commencing at 6.00 a.m.,” the notice read in part.
Seven Estates in Kiambu and Nyeri Affected By Sasini Closures
Gazette Notice No. 15531 states that all private roads and footpaths within seven specified estates will be closed on October 13.
Six of the affected estates are located in Kiambu County. They are Kamundu Estate, Kakindu Estate, Tinganga Estate, Doondu Estate, Ruiru Mills Estate, and Gulmarg Estate.
Mweiga Estate in Nyeri County is also included in the closure. Access to the specified private roads and footpaths within these properties will be restricted for the 24-hour period.

“The affected roads and footpaths are situated in the following estates: Kamundu Estate, Kiambu Kakindu Estate, Kiambu Tinganga Estate, Kiambu Doondu Estate, Kiambu Ruiru Mills Estate, Kiambu Gulmarg Estate, Kiambu Mweiga Estate, Nyeri.”
Mweiga Airstrip to Close for 24 Hours
A separate Gazette Notice No. 15532 provides for the temporary closure of Mweiga Airstrip on the same day.
The airstrip, which is owned by Sasini PLC and its subsidiaries, will be closed from 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, for 24 hours.
According to the notice, the closure aims to prevent external claims of adverse possession or a right of use over the airstrip, which is on private company property.

“This closure is to ensure that no claim whatsoever can be made by any party, including yourselves, of adverse possession or right of use over the said airstrip, which is within our property.”
Four Sotik Estates Included
Gazette Notice No. 15533 covers private roads and footpaths located within four tea estates in Sotik.
Kipkebe Estate, Magura Estate, Kiptenden Estate and Keritor Estate will have their private roads and footpaths closed for 24 hours from 6:00 a.m. on October 13.
Sotík’s closure similarly aims to prevent claims of adverse possession over company-owned roads and pathways.
