A school bus carrying children has been involved in a road accident near Kikima Market, Mbooni Sub County, Makueni.
Kenya Red Cross confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday, November 23, stating that the school children had been trapped after the bus overturned.
“Children trapped in the overturned bus are being rescued by response teams led by the county government,” read the statement in part.
Earlier, at least 10 primary school pupils were injured following an accident on the Southern Bypass near the Ole Sereni Hotel off Mombasa Road, Nairobi.
Witnesses reported that the accident occurred when the passenger bus belonging to County Link they were travelling in lost control, overturned, and rolled.
Preliminary reports indicate that the bus was either transporting the students to school or from a special trip at the time of the crash.
In videos and images seen by The Kenya Times, the bus was seen lying of its side.

Also, shoes, gumboots and sandals were seen scattered on the ground with onlookers surrounding the scene.
Rescuers could also be spotted attempting to evacuate those trapped under the wreckage.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist the injured children and transport them to hospitals for treatment.
Police are on currently on the ground coordinating a rescue operation with investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
At the time of publishing, no deaths had been reported.

Rise of Crash Cases
The accident comes a day after five people tragically lost their lives, and with several others have sustained serious injuries.
This is after a lorry transporting maize lost control and collided with two other vehicles at Kibirigwi town along the Karatina-Sagana-Nairobi highway.
According to Kirinyaga West Subcounty Police Commander Moses Koskei, the lorry, descending from the direction of Karatina, failed to stop after its brakes reportedly malfunctioned.
Despite the driver’s attempts to alert other motorists with flashing lights and honking, the truck crashed into two private cars heading towards Karatina.
Eyewitnesses described the accident as the result of the lorry’s failure to control its speed as it descended the sharp Kangoco Hill.

A week earlier, ten people died on the spot and twenty were injured during the tragic road accident that happened at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, at Iguhu Bridge.
According to police report, the tanker traveling from Kisumu toward Kakamega reportedly hit a bump, causing the driver to lose control and veer into the oncoming lane, where it collided with two Public Service Vehicles (PSVs).
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa in November 14 announced that the death toll from the Yala Bridge accident on the Kisumu-Kakamega Highway rose to 13.
Barasa stated that three more people succumbed to their injuries at Kakamega County General Hospital.
