Royal Media Services Chairman Dr. SK Macharia joined Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and a host of lawmakers in Siaya County on October 13 during the Kenya Kwannza Empowerment Campaign.
Speaking at a fundraiser aimed at supporting Boda Boda Sacco groups, Dr. Macharia announced a new initiative to register riders and provide them with direct access to legal and operational support.
“We are creating a program. Everyone in Boda Boda should call this number, register, put their ID, and wherever you go, you will know,” said Macharia.
“If you are arrested by the police, we will give you a number they can call to confirm that you are fully licensed.”
SK Macharia on Raila’s Health
The initiative, he noted, is designed to professionalize and empower Boda Boda operators, a sector that employs thousands across Kenya and forms a backbone of rural transportation and informal employment.
The event in Siaya was part of a broader campaign called the KK Empowerment Campaign, where leaders from the ruling coalition visited the region to launch community projects and address political speculation about ODM leader Raila Odinga’s health.

SK Macharia shared an update about Raila’s condition after speaking to him on the phone.
Macharia said Raila had recovered and was ready to jet back in a few days.
“This morning, I spoke to Raila, where he is; yesterday I also rang him, and we spoke. Raila is very healthy. He is walking around, jumping, and he is going to come back in a few days; he will be here with us.”
Deputy President Kindiki also addressed concerns over Odinga’s condition, criticizing what he termed as “naysayers” for spreading unnecessary alarm.
“Raila Odinga is safe and healthy. I have spoken to him,” said Kindiki.
“Those who are wishing him ill are not good people because it is against the African tradition to wish anybody ill, even your worst enemy.”

Kindiki also took the opportunity to call for sobriety in politics, urging leaders to embrace issue-based dialogue.

“These people of Siaya are supportive of the current government in this broad-based arrangement. This is the best arrangement we have had; it is giving development to our people,” he said. The second in command also noted that the government of President William Ruto had prioritized development in the Nyanza region.
“The Government has invested more than Ksh billion to stimulate the growth and sustainability of the Blue Economy Sector in all the Lake Victoria and Indian Ocean Counties and spur the economic transformation of the fisherfolk,” Kindiki noted.
Siaya County, Kindiki noted, is benefiting from Markets, affordable housing, and institutional housing projects worth 35 billion shillings, alongside 550 million shillings for the construction of the Siaya Stadium and 500 million shillings to upgrade the Siaya Referral Hospital.
Later in Kuresoi North, the Deputy President focused on the implementation of national development projects, expressing dissatisfaction with the pace of ongoing works.
“I will put contractors on notice in two to three months,” Kindiki warned. “The total number of contracts is 55 million, and only 30% is complete.”
The KK Empowerment Campaign has been billed as a national initiative aimed at bridging political divides while focusing on tangible socio-economic programs.
