The Kenyan Embassy in Seoul has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 Fall Semester Woojung Education and Culture Foundation Scholarship, inviting eligible Kenyan students studying in South Korea to apply.
In a statement on July 4, the embassy stated that the scholarship, offered through the Woojung Education and Culture Foundation, targets Kenyan undergraduate and postgraduate students currently enrolled in degree programmes at universities in the Republic of Korea.
Applications must be submitted to the Embassy by Friday, July 10, 2026, via [email protected].
“The Embassy wishes to inform you that the Woojung Education and Culture Foundation is offering scholarships to Kenyan students enrolled in universities in the Republic of Korea for the 2026 Fall Semester,” the Embassy said in a statement.
The Embassy added that application forms are available through a Google Drive link shared on its official communication channels.

To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one semester of study at a four-year Korean university, demonstrate good conduct, and not be receiving any government or other scholarship.
Those who have previously benefited from scholarships awarded through Embassy recommendations are also ineligible.

Applicants are required to submit their applications through the Kenya Embassy in Seoul by emailing the completed documents before the July 10 deadline.
Required documents include a completed application form with a passport-size photograph, a recommendation letter from a professor or dean, a certificate of admission, an original certificate of enrolment, an original academic transcript, a one-page self-introduction, a study plan and a copy of a bank account showing the account number.
“All documents should be filled in Korean and submitted through the Embassy,” the statement said.
The Embassy emphasized that the application form, recommendation letter, self-introduction and study plan must all be completed in Korean before submission.
Program Supports International Students Pursuing Higher Education in South Korea
The Woojung Education & Culture Foundation 2026 Fall Scholarship is an initiative that supports international students pursuing higher education in South Korea.
Established in 2008 by Booyoung Group Chairman Lee Joong-keun, the foundation has awarded scholarships to foreign students twice every year since 2010.
The scholarship targets international students enrolled in Korean universities and graduate schools who demonstrate academic excellence or require financial assistance.
Recipients are selected based on recommendations from universities, professors, Korean embassies, and other qualified nominators.
Applicants are generally required to submit academic transcripts, proof of enrollment, a study plan, an application form, and recommendation letters as part of the selection process.
For the 2026 fall intake, the foundation continues its commitment to supporting students from countries across Asia, Africa, Central Asia, and other regions.
The scholarship provides meaningful financial assistance that helps reduce tuition burdens and allows students to focus on their studies and future career aspirations.
The program remains one of the notable private scholarship opportunities available to international students in South Korea.
In February 2026, it awarded 408 million won in scholarships to 102 international students from 32 countries. Since the program’s launch, a total of 2,847 students from 45 countries have received support, with cumulative scholarship funding surpassing 11.2 billion won.
