Police in Kilifi seized 316kg of bhang with street value of about Ksh. 9,480,000 after the driver of a Land cruiser that was transporting the marijuana landed in a ditch in a self-involved accident.
According to reports by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the bhang was stashed in seven gunny bags ferried along Kaloleni – Mavueni route.
Further, police recovered registration plates; KBQ 580K, KBZ 528N, KDA 639A and KDC 947C (the latter akin to parastatal vehicles).
The seizure comes at a time when police countrywide have heightened the fight against drug abuse, trafficking in narcotics, and sale and consumption of illicit brews.
Meanwhile, the recovery has been secured as exhibit and the vehicle detained, as search for the perpetrators commences.
Mathe Wa Ngara
Moreover, this new arrest comes after DCI officers arrested Mathe Wa Ngara on August 21.
DCI officers from the Anti-narcotics Unit in collaboration with officers from the Forensics and Cyber Crimes Units tracked Mathe wa Ngara who is alleged to be the owner of Sh13.4 million cash and a consignment of 26 gunny bags full of cannabis obtained by the police.
Furthermore, her arrest came after she called Teresia Wanjiku who was mistakenly arrested to apologize, in a dare to law enforcement.

When presented in court on August 21, her lawyer Danstan Omari requested the court to issue an injunction pending a request for anticipatory bail that is meant to block arrest of a suspect.
Furthermore, Lawyer Ombeta urged the court to release their client on bail saying she is ready to deposit her travel documents in court hence she is not a flight risk.
Additionally, the police also disclosed that they had recovered cakes and sweets suspected to have been made using narcotics.
4 Foreigners Arrested
On August 30, DCI announced the arrest of four foreigners believed to be Tanzanians with dozens of pellets suspected to be cocaine recovered from their house.
In an operation conducted at Beckvike homes in Kitengela, Kajiado County, a total of 143 pellets containing the highly addictive substance were recovered by Anti-Narcotics detectives, stashed in empty packets of fruit juice.

Further, the DCI officers recovered digital weighing machines, $245USD, Ksh26,100, Tsh11,000, Indian Rupees and mobile phones.
Also recovered in the raid were identification documents belonging to the suspects Ali Abubakar, Mohammed Kassim, Saad Salim, and Rosse Paul Tito.
Moreover, a fifth suspect, Nancy Munyota was also arrested.
DCI said the five suspects were in custody assisting detectives with investigations.
