The Standard Group PLC has announced more programming changes that will impact some of its platforms as the media giants fights to remain afloat.
In a notice on Thursday, February 27, the media house, based on Mombasa Road, explained that the evolving media landscape has influenced its business operations, leading to these adjustments.

“At Standard Media Group, our commitment to providing you with the best content remains unwavering. As the media landscape evolves, we continue to adapt to ensure we serve you better. We want to inform you about recent changes to some of our platforms,” the notice stated.
Among the changes, BTV – Burudani TV has officially ceased its broadcast operations. The media company expressed heartfelt appreciation for the audience’s support and engagement over the years.

Burudani TV offered a variety of content including local and international movies, music shows, talk shows, reality shows, and comedy programs which included comedy and sitcoms.
Standard Group Shuts Down Several TV Stations
Additionally, Standard Group announced that Farmers TV has transitioned to a fully online platform, allowing continuous access to agricultural insights and programs anytime, anywhere.

“Farmers TV has moved online, ensuring you can access valuable agricultural content whenever you like. Tune in at Farmers TV Online,” the statement read.
Farmers TV provides a wide range of agricultural content, including tips on sustainable farming practices, climate-smart agriculture, and success stories from local farmers.
Vybez Radio has also terminated its traditional broadcast and is now available exclusively online.
“Vybez Radio is still your go-to station for the best urban and reggae music, now streaming exclusively online. Keep the Vybez alive by listening at Vybez Radio Online,” the notice added.
Vybz Radio, offers a vibrant mix of content primarily focused on African music, including Afrobeats, dancehall, and reggae.
The station features various shows such as “The Morning Vybz,” which provides traffic reports, weather forecasts, headline news, and entertainment updates to kickstart your day.
Other popular programs include music countdowns, live DJ mixes, and interactive segments where listeners can participate and win prizes.

Furthermore, Standard Media Group reaffirmed its commitment to making content more accessible and engaging in the digital space. The company expressed gratitude to its audience for their continued support as it embraces new ways to connect with them.
The shutdown of the stations comes months after the Standard Group shutdown KTN News.
KTN News Shuts Down
KTN News was shut down in the month of December 2024 as part of a broader restructuring effort amid severe financial difficulties faced by the Standard Media company.
Launched in 2015 as a 24-hour news channel focusing on comprehensive news and current affairs, KTN News ceased broadcasting in December 2024 exactly nine years after its inception. Its programming was merged into KTN Home, a sister station focused on entertainment and lifestyle content.

The decision came shortly after the 300 employees were reportedly laid off.
The Mombasa Road-based media house has been grappling with financial issues. Reports indicate that the company has been facing cash flow challenges, exacerbated by unpaid salaries, with some employees going up to eight months without pay by mid-2024.
