People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) is a political party registered with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
The party is listed under party code 022, with a microphone as its official symbol and “Usawa Haki Uhuru” as its slogan.
The party invites eligible Kenyans to become members as it seeks to expand its political base ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro is the party’s current leader after leaving the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on August 17, 2026.
Joining People’s Party of Kenya
PPK membership is open to Kenyans who meet the eligibility requirements set out in the party constitution. Applicants must be 18 years or older and hold a national ID.
Applicants must also agree to abide by the PPK Constitution and any rules made under it. They are required to subscribe to the party’s Code of Conduct and pledge of commitment.

The party constitution provides that members should pay KSh200 per year, while life membership costs KSh100,000. Gold membership costs KSh75,000, silver membership KSh50,000, and bronze membership KSh25,000.
According to its constitution, ordinary membership is renewable annually upon payment of the applicable KSh200 annual subscription fee. Special Interest Groups may receive discounted or waived subscription fees subject to approval by the National Executive Committee.
Also, a person wishing to join PPK cannot legally be a member of another political party.
How to Apply Through the PPK Website
Kenyans interested in joining PPK can begin the process through the party’s online membership application form.
Applicants must provide their full name, national ID number, phone number, and county.
Applicants may also provide an email address and ward details, while gender and disability information are optional fields.
The applicant must confirm that they are a Kenyan citizen aged 18 or above and hold a national ID.
They must also agree to comply with the party constitution, rules, and Code of Conduct and consent to PPK using their details for registration and communication.
After submitting the online application, the party’s local branch will contact them to complete registration.
How to Formally Register Through *509#
The ORPP provides a mobile registration service through *509#. The service can be used to join a political party, check membership status, or resign from an existing party.
- Dial *509# on your mobile phone.
- Enter your national ID number and first name to obtain an ORPP PIN via SMS.
- If you are already registered with another political party, select Membership and resign from your current party.
- Dial *509# again and select Membership.
- Choose Join a Party and enter PPK.
- Enter the PPK party code (022) and confirm your membership.

How PPK Membership Can End
A member can voluntarily leave the People’s Party of Kenya by submitting a formal resignation letter to the Secretary General or by resigning through the USSD system.
According to the party constitution, resignation is voluntary and irreversible. A member who leaves the party is not entitled to a refund of membership fees.
The constitution also gives the National Executive Committee (NEC) or another authorized disciplinary organ the power to expel a member.
A member can be expelled for gross misconduct, conduct that damages the party’s interests or reputation, violation of the party constitution or Code of Conduct, and joining, promoting or openly supporting another political party contrary to the Political Parties Act.
A member may also face expulsion for persistent failure to pay required membership fees or levies, corruption, fraud or other unethical conduct connected to party activities. The rules further prohibit incitement to violence, hate speech and discrimination that undermines national unity or the party’s principles.
Disobeying lawful instructions or decisions issued by the party’s governing organs is also listed among the grounds for expulsion.
