Mike Sonko registered his National Economic Development Party (NEDP) on 9th December 2025 as a platform to promote economic transformation, development, and improve the livelihoods of Kenyans
Dr. John Nyamu has been serving as the Party Chair since its registration via the Registrar of Political Parties.
Sonko welcomed interested Kenyans to join the party ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
“We welcome everyone from Gen Z to elders, from all political backgrounds, anyone who believes in changing our country. Let us join hands and work together,” said Sonko.
The party allows eligible Kenyans to become official members through multiple channels in compliance with the Constitution of Kenya and the Political Parties Act

Appreciate the emphasis on ORPP as the official route for party membership. It’s helpful to know the process is centralized and verifiable.
