Super Metro Driver Composes Emotional Song After Colleague’s Death

A Super Metro driver has composed a moving tribute song to Naomi Mwangi who was part of the crew members killed in a grisly crash between a bus and a lorry in Kisumu County.

Super Metro in a statement on Wednesday said one of its drivers named Desherrif Kadere had worked on the song ahead of Naomi’s burial on Thursday, February 8. 

In the song shared by the popular commuter service company, the driver expressed his grief for the death of his colleague.

Playing against a solemn background tune, the driver expressed his conviction that their paths would eventually cross despite the current separation.

“I’ve been calling your name Naomi, but I can’t see you, did not know you have gone to be with the Lord,” the song sang in Swahili roughly translates.

Naomi Mwangi was until her death on January 29 working as a crew member for the long-distance service buses. 

Her burial will take place in Kahatia, Murang’a County on Thursday, February 8.

Kenyans Mourn Naomi

Judging from the grieving messages shared on social media platforms, Naomi had won the hearts of many in her line of duty with friends and former colleagues sharing their memories with her.

In the photos shared on social media, Naomi’s smile stood for Kenyans online, a testimony of the love and approval she enjoyed.

Super Metro in the statement on Wednesday said the driver of the ill-fated had been buried in his Bungoma home as part of the continued funeral arrangements organized by the company.

We shall be having a candle lighting for Naomi at our main stage in Town At 9pm,” the company announced.

Super Metro Ride Turns Tragic

The accident sent shockwaves to the Super Metro family and other enthusiasts of the long-distance buses.

Soon after the tragic crash, the company commenced arrangements for the funerals of their crew members lost in the accident.

Family members, colleagues, and friends held meetings at a venue in Nairobi CBD where they made funeral arrangements for the three fallen comrades.

As is their custom, Super Metro’s crew members have pulled together to give their colleagues a descent sendoff with the company mobilizing resources towards the arrangements.

Buses from the company’s travel in a queue carrying mourners to and from the homes of their colleagues as a show of togetherness in the company.
