A non-profit Civic Tech research lab known as Threats, has developed a digital database for 5,000 lies told by President William Ruto.
The website, dubbed Ruto Lies, includes a collection of tweets and comments made online calling out the president for his lies.
Further, the lies have been represented in an interactive format on a portrait of the president made up of hundreds of dots.
When a user clicks on one of the dots, it unveils a lie that the head of state has told, or a comment referencing the lie.
Moreover, the website notes that the compilation was done for information collected between June 26, 2024, and July 3.
“An interactive digital portrait of Kenya’s President Ruto, composed of over 5,000 tweets reflecting the sentiments of Kenyans during the #RejectTheFinancialBill2024 demonstrations.
“Each dot within his face represents a tweet that includes the keywords “Ruto” and “lies” or mentions of those keywords.
“These tweets highlight claims of false statements or misleading promises attributed to President Ruto,” the website notes.

About Threats
Located both in Uganda and Washington DC, the research lab is dedicated to combating digital threats against truth, democracy, and social unity.
Threats focus on addressing challenges related to democratic stability, human rights, and ethical technology development in developing nations.
In addition, they investigate how emerging digital threats can undermine free and fair elections, amplify hate speech and ethnic tensions,
“Across the Global South, democratic processes are a toxic mix between deliberate disinformation, unintentional misinformation, social divisions, and rising polarization.
“With technological advancements, confronting these digital threats, such as deep fakes and cheap fakes, is becoming more challenging,” the company states.

Confusion Over Germany Jobs Promised by Ruto
The President has been continuously called out for his public remarks including the recent Germany Jobs deal that has made headlines.
Ruto had earlier promised Kenyans jobs in Germany after the two countries signed a Comprehensive Agreement on Sharing of Labour, Talent and Mobility in Berlin.
Under the deal, Germany agreed to open the doors to skilled and semi-skilled Kenyan workers in a controlled and targeted labor migration deal.
Further, Germany agreed to ease some of its immigration laws to enable Kenyans find employment in Europe’s biggest economy.
However, on Saturday, September 14, the German government denied claims that Kenya had secured a deal for over 250,000 jobs.
Germany’s Interior Ministry dismissed the BBC World report, stating that the information about the 250,000 jobs was false and that the agreement did not include specific job numbers.
On the other hand, while speaking on Sunday, Ruto said the recruitment exercise for the first batch will be held on September 27, 2024, insisting that the program will come to pass.
“When I announced that we would have a chance for Kenyan youths to work in Germany, others said I was lying but on Friday they knew there is a plan and a possibility and while I was there on Friday, some Kenyans were already there to work,” he said.
