Motorists using the Thika Superhighway experienced a traffic snarl-up on Friday, June 6, 2025, after three different incidents along the busy highway.
Photos seen by The Kenya Times showed a traffic jam stretching from Ndarugo to Witeithie, caused by an accident near Mang’u High School involving.
An unidentified body has also been found floating along the riverbanks at Ruiru KU near the China Square Mall area along Thika Superhighway.
The Body was discovered on Friday morning in a river near Kenyatta University (KU) main campus, just past Clay Works along Thika Road.
Eyewitnesses say the body was seen floating in the water, and it appeared to have been dumped there.
The body was yet to be retrieved by the time of publishing this story, and the cause of her death remains unknown as locals await the arrival of the police.
This incident has resulted in a jam near China Square as locals have gathered at the scene awaiting an official response.
Footage seen by The Kenya Times shows the body floating inside the small river.
Residents gathered on both sides of the road and river, observing the body.
Pedestrian Hit by Car
Reports also indicate that a section of Thika Road around KU has been closed off by residents, who are demanding that the police arrive at the scene, conduct investigations, and collect the body.
In a separate incident, a man was knocked down and seriously injured by a speeding vehicle while crossing Thika Road at Njomoko, just a short distance from the footbridge.

Recent Incident Along Thika Road
Thika Road was recently closed on May 30 after a student at Kenya Utalii College was found dead inside one of the campus hostels.
This discovery sparked an angry protest, with students marching off the campus to demand justice.
The demonstration spilled onto Thika Road, causing heavy traffic gridlock near the college as police were deployed to contain the situation.

Traffic was also disrupted along Thika Road after bonfires were lit at two key junctions on May 26.
The fires were lit near the entrance to Mang’u High School at Ndarugo and the Witeithie highway access point.
Witnesses said the fires were lit in solidarity with Juja MP George Koimburi, who was found dumped in a coffee farm after an alleged abduction and assault by unknown attackers.
