The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has arrested two narcotic traffickers posing as travelers.
In a statement on their official X account, DCI said the traffickers were arrested on Wednesday July 10 at a bus station in Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).
The detectives nabbed the suspects with bhang worth Ksh 990,000 before they boarded a super metro heading to Kamulu, Kasarani Constituency.
“Two suspects, Clinton Ndede and Kelvin Sibukhu were arrested earlier today at a bus station in Nairobi CBD after they were found with 17 bales of bhang approximated at Ksh990,000 in street value,” reads part of the statement.
“The two were caught moments after disembarking from a Guardian bus from Budalangi, Busia County just before they boarded a super metro shuttle enroute to Kamulu where they reside.”

The search in their luggage by anti-narcotics officers saw the seizure of the 17 bales weighing 34kgs, hence their arrest.
However, this is not the first case of drug traffickers being apprehended by anti-narcotics officers in recent days
On July 7, the DCI arrested a 42-year-old man found trafficking 146kg of bhang along the Kisii-Migori highway.
The detectives recovered the drugs after law enforcers in Kisii pursued his vehicle upon learning of his illegal activities.

Police had set up a roadblock at the Iyabe Bomokora area and intercepted a Toyota Land that was Cruiser carrying two occupants.
The move prompted a hot chase, but not for long as the Prado got stuck in a ditch.
Even so, the driver managed to scamper into nearby thickets as police recovered six sacks of bhang stashed in their vehicle.
On Thursday, July 4th, the DCI arrested a suspect in possession of bhang valued at Sh600,000 during a separate operation.
According to the DCI, the anti-narcotics team intercepted the vehicle the man was driving based on intelligence leads.
“We detained four bales of the herb concealed in a gunny bag and the motor vehicle as exhibits pending the suspect’s arraignment,” stated the DCI.

Likewise, detectives in Moyale Sub County seized narcotic drugs stashed in four bean sacks on May 6 following a tip-off from the public.
The DCI said that officers received reports of a “suspicious person with four sacks of beans” at Liban bus booking office prompting an immediate police response.
“Upon arrival, they discovered that the sacks had been left unattended at the entrance of the said booking office, and the owner was nowhere to be found, as he was claimed to have gone for authorization papers from KRA office,” said DCI on X.
