The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has issued a statement after thousands of teachers were unable to apply for the 46,000 permanent and pensionable jobs advertised by the commission.
Thousands of teachers have aired their frustrations over being locked out of the TSC website after they rushed to apply for the opportunities following the job advertisement.
The applicants have been receiving an error message, with many of the interested and qualified candidates consequently been unable to submit their applications.
TSC in a statement on Tuesday, October 8, responded to the complaints, saying that it has extended the deadline which was set for October 7.
“The Commission has extended the deadline for application for recruitment to 8th October 2024 at midnight,” the statement reads.

Earlier, the teachers’ service in a statement on Wednesday, October 3 responded to the complaints, saying that it is experiencing technical challenges affecting the teacher recruitment portal.

Teachers unable to apply for TSC jobs
However, thousands of teachers angling for the mass jobs on Monday decried the technical errors they experienced while lodging their applications.
Most of the applicants, while venting out their frustrations online, stated the biggest issue was the portal’s failure to send the one-time password in a timely manner despite the time crunch presented by the one-week deadline.

In addition, some used this as a basis to claim the hitches were intentional.
Majority of the initially received an ‘internal server error’ notification when they tried to log into the portal to apply, despite attempting severally.
As the deadline drew closer, more technical errors continued to impede the application process, with the main issue being reported concerning the one-time password that took up to days to be delivered despite being an integral part of the application process.
TSC had in a notice on Tuesday October 1, invited applications from qualified teachers to fill 39,550 posts for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), 6,000 posts for Primary Schools, and 450 posts for Secondary Schools.
Interested and qualified candidates were directed to submit their applications online through the commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.
