A student at the United States International University (USIU) tragically died on Wednesday, December 4 morning.
The deceased, identified as 21-year-old Benedict Mberesero from Tanzania died in a suspected suicide at Qwetu Hostels, Aberdare Heights Two, in Kasarani.
According to a police OB obtained by The Kenya Times, Mberesero is believed to have jumped from the rooftop of the 11-storey building at around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
“It was reported by the Qwetu USIU 4 security manager that today, at about 4:30 a.m., at Qwetu Hostels Abardare Heights Two, that one of the residents of the said building, namely Benedict Mberesero (now deceased), a Tanzanian national aged 21 years, is suspected to have committed suicide by jumping from the rooftop of an eleven-Storey building,” read the Police report in part.
USIU Student Dies of Suicide
His lifeless body was found at the exit gate with visible injuries, including a fractured skull, broken arms, and a broken left leg.
The scene was visited by the SCCIO Kasarani, D/SCPC Kasarani, and other officers from Kasarani Police Station.

Details of the Four Suicide Notes
Police officers who visited the scene recovered four suicide notes addressed to his mother, brother, and sister.
According to reports, in the suicide notes, the deceased spoke about the unhappy home life marked by frequent quarrels.
Additionally, Mberesero’s phone, shoes, and room access card were found on the rooftop, indicating the point of his fall.
“Officers managed to find four suicide notes addressed to his mother, brother, and sister in his room,’ the report read further.
“It was also established that the deceased left his mobile phone, shoes, and room access card on the rooftop, from where he is suspected to have jumped.”
The scene was documented by the Kasarani Crime Scene Investigation team before the body was moved to the Kenyatta University mortuary for an autopsy.
The police also mentioned that investigations are ongoing as authorities seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Medic and Lover Found Dead
The news comes barely four days after a medic working at the Kisii Teaching Referral Hospital and a lady believed to be his lover was found dead on Friday, November 29, inside a rented house in Nyanchwa, Kisii County.
According to an OB statement obtained by The Kenya Times, the police established that the deceased Vincent Bosire Nyambunde was a staff at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) while the other deceased was Angellah Moraa Ongeri aged 28 years who had recently arrived from the USA.
The landlady of the apartment they had rented, and the deceased medic’s cousin reported the case to the police after concerns about his whereabouts.
The room where the two were discovered had syringes, both used and unused, scattered across the floor, although the exact cause of their deaths remains unclear.
