Former Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation (KBC) journalist Abdilqadir Hubess has been confirmed dead.
The late Veteran journalist previously worked for Voice of Kenya before it rebranded to the now Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation.
His passing on was announced by his former employer KBC as they paid tribute to the veteran journalist.
According to the announcement Hubess passed away on Jamhuri Day, 12th December. However, the cause of death was not yet revealed by press time.
Worth nothing, Hubees was among the pioneers of Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation as it was transitioning from Voice of Kenya.
KBC Journalist Work Life
Hubess worked alongside other renowned Kenyan veteran Journalists in the 90s including the late Catherine Kasavuli, Leornard Mambo Mbotela and Badi Muhsin.

In addition, some of the celebrated presenters who graced the airwaves in the mid and late 90s have grown old while some have already passed on.
Meanwhile, Abdilqadir Hubess will be remembered for his contribution into the Kenyan media space being among the pioneers of the first broadcasting media in Kenya.
Veteran Journalists Who Have Died
Former television news anchor Catherine Kasavuli is among celebrated anchors from the 80s who passed away in December 2022.
She died aged 60 at the Kenyatta National Hospital in December of 2023, after being admitted to hospital for two months.
The prime-time news anchor passed on following a battle with cancer.
At the time, Catherine had just returned on TV after KBC hired her among veterans to revamp the media house.
Notably, Kasavuli began her media career in 1980 at the Voice of Kenya which was later renamed KBC before she switched to the television wing of the station in 1985.
In 1990, Kasavuli joined KTN which was just starting where she anchored the news for close to two decades before she moved to Royal Media Owned Citizen TV in 2007.
Celebrated Swahili Anchor Badi Muhsin
Likewise, another Voice of Kenya Pioneer Journalists who recently passed on was Badi Muhsin.

The celebrated KBC anchor Muhsin, died aged 67, at a Mombasa Hotel in 2021.
According to reports, Muhsin untimely death happened just after he had finished his Friday prayers, he took lunch and returned to his hotel room, where he then complained of feeling unwell.
During his time, Muhsin was famed for his Kiswahili show on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) ‘Dira ya Dunia.’
Until his death, Muhsin was one of Kenya’s longest serving Kiswahili news anchors, having worked for over 30 years.
