Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi says he is ready to work with all leaders, including Members of County Assembly (MCA) if they are ready to deliver.
The first term governor made the remarks on Wednesday, August 30, after hell broke loose at an event, he was presiding over at Ruiru, within the county.
“I am ready to work with any leaders who want to work, even the MCAs, any leader who has the interest of people at heart, and the want to work for the people.
However, those who want to continue politicking can as well continue, we will join them at the right time,” Governor Wamatangi said.
The event ended in chaos and police officers had to intervene to restore order.
Speaking after the the chaos, Kiambu Senator Karungo Wathangw’a said that he cannot approve the impeachment of the Govenor Kimani Wamatangi at the moment, but the governor needs to change in his was of delivery.
“I would not in any case approve his removal for now, but he must change to work for the people. Time is now, for him to change tact,” the Senator said.
The Senator also shared that the leaders of Kiambu have tried to dialogue with the governor which has not yielded any results so far.
“If he doesn’t change, it is not going to be easy, because we started the meeting mediation, dialogue with MPs of Kiambu and the Governor, it did not work. I asked the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to invite the governor, so that we can talk.
When the Governor came to the meeting, he was discussing some irrelevant issues of how he was removed from a WhatsApp group. Not issues that are affecting the people of Kiambu,” Senator Karungo.
The Senator said that the meeting with the Deputy President did not change anything as Governor Wamatangi did not heed to the call to work with other leaders.
Moreover, the Senator disclosed that President William Ruto also intervened while at his tour in Githurai and had a conversation with the Governor concerning working to towards Kenya Kwanza manifesto.
“The president told him that ‘You came to this party late, and if you cannot work toward the manifesto of Kenya Kwanza, then you are not part of us’ he was told to go to Kenya Kwanza manifesto again,” Senator Karungo said.
This came a day after Members of the County Assembly of Kiambu hinted at initiating the impeachment process of Governor Kimani Wamatangi.
