The Kenya Meteorological Department (Weatherman) has issued a warning to Kenyans traveling to Naivasha in Nakuru County to attend the World Rally Championships (WRC).
In a statement, the weatherman indicated that the spectators and motorists should be prepared for potential rainfall over the period.
Additionally, the statement added that the rains will be interrupted by sunny intervals with spectators travelling across the country advised to prepare appropriately and adequately.
“Participants and spectators at the Naivasha WRC Safari Rally 2024 should be prepared for potential rainfall over the weekend, with intermittent sunny intervals likely.
“Keep an eye on the weather forecast and packing accordingly will ensure a smooth experience despite the rain,” the statement read in part.

Easter Period Weather Forecast
At the same time, the meteorological department indicated that many parts of the country would experience rainfall through the Easter weekend including Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Coast.
Other areas including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi counties will experience showers and thunderstorms on Easter Monday.
“Isolated heavy rainfall events are likely to occur in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Coast,” read the weather projections in part.
Earlier, the Kenya Red Cross Society shared flood safety tips with Kenyans after heavy floods were experienced in major parts of the country, especially in Nairobi.
“With rains pounding various parts of Nairobi County, it is crucial to know how to protect yourself and your loved ones from potential flooding hazards,
“Avoid downed power lines and muddy waters where power lines may have fallen, listen to designated radio or TV stations to stay updated on the rains and flooded areas and do not drive over a bridge that is flooded,” Kenya Red Cross said.

Floods in Nairobi
The warning came days after heavy rains that pounded most parts of the country on Sunday, March 24 resulting in floods in many parts of including the Nairobi Expressway.
Motorists were captured maneuvering flooded sections of roads on elevated road that stretches from Mlolongo to Westlands.
Also, Kenyatta and Haile Selassie Avenues were marooned, sparking debate about the city’s drainage system and its disaster preparedness.
Consequently, a police officer was swept away by floodwaters while rescuing three women and a child from stalls that had collapsed.
Nairobi Police Chief Adamson Bungei recounted the valiant efforts of the team, highlighting how they managed to rescue the family before the devastating sequence of events unfolded.
