Flamboyant city car dealer and social media influencer Khalif Kairo has been notably absent from social media for four days.
Kairo, known for his active presence on X (formerly Twitter), last posted on November 20, a retweet from Diamond Collection.
His sudden silence has sparked online speculation, with some alleging his arrest and others dismissing the claims.
According to circulating reports, Kairo was allegedly arrested on accusations of obtaining money by false pretence.
Khalif Kairo Faces Allegations of Fraud
A sworn statement by Waithaka and Muthusi Advocates claims a customer filed a complaint against Kairo, alleging he failed to deliver a motor vehicle worth Ksh2.52 million purchased through his company, Kai and Karo.
The car was to be delivered within 45 days, but Kairo reportedly failed to meet this deadline and ignored the client’s calls.
The advocate described Kairo’s failure to honour the contract as a serious breach of contract and a violation of the client’s rights.
Kairo was instructed to fulfil his obligations and deliver the vehicle in pristine condition within seven days, as per the Agreement for the Importation and Sale of Motor Vehicle.
The client is said to have reported the matter to the police, which allegedly led to Kairo’s arrest.

Previous Accusations
This is not the first time Kairo has faced such accusations. In October, some clients took to social media to complain about undelivered vehicles.
On November 22, X user Dennis Ombachi claimed Kairo was arrested, recalling Kairo’s criticism of his support for Gen Z protests.
“Guess who the cops arrested? Si ungewaonyesha hii tweet uwaambie hata uliambia watu maandamano haisaidii and you were on the same side. Just because the system is working for you now, don’t ever diminish the efforts of others because it will be used against you tomorrow,” Ombachi tweeted, referencing a previous comment by Kairo.

Another user, Chris Sambu, criticized Kairo’s alleged failure to deliver a car after six months, despite full payment of Ksh4.2 million, calling it “nasty business.”

Divided Opinions Online
Opinions on Kairo’s situation remain divided.
X user Oduk stated that Kenyans should allow the law to take its course, emphasizing that tweets or hashtags cannot free someone accused of fraud.
“We only tweet ‘free’ someone if they are arrested unfairly or targeted due to government criticism. But Kairo’s case is a criminal one. Tweets can’t free him or influence his release; let the law take its course,” Oduk tweeted.
However, another user, Edwin Nganyi, refuted the arrest claims, stating, “Kairo hajashikwa ako sawa,” which translates to, “Kairo has not been arrested; he is fine.”
Kairo’s continued absence has fueled speculation, leaving many waiting for clarity on his situation.
