Football fans waiting for the match between Kenya and Cameroon will not be able to watch on the national broadcaster following a signal failure.
In statement, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) apologized for the development.
“The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) regrets to inform the general public that we are unable to bring you today’s match between Cameroon and Kenya at 7:00PM,” the statement read in part.
KBC stated that it had acquired the rights to air the match, but the involved company failed to provide the needed signal.
“This is due to the inability of New World TV, the Free-To-Air rights holder in Sub-Saharan Africa, to provide the signal to all free to air stations across Africa,” it explained.
Moreover, KBC revealed that it had fully paid for the rights and clarified that the problem was on the New World’s side.
The broadcast was for an African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers match.
