Media personality, Willis Raburu has resigned from his position as the chairperson of the Nairobi Festival Commitee.
The media personality announced his resignation after three months into the job in a press statement dated 30th October 2023.
“This morning, I have officially informed the leadership of the county that I will no longer be serving in my current capacity as Chair of Nairobi Festival Committee,” Willis Raburu announced.
Moreover, the former 10 over 10 host stated that it had been a privilege to work alongside incumbent Nairobi Governor, Johnson Sakaja.
“It has been an honor to work alongside Governor Sakaja and his administration, and I would like to express my deep gratitude for the trust and opportunity that they have extended to me during my time here,” stated Raburu.

Nonetheless, Willis said that his decision to step down was driven by the need for systemic change which he deemed necessary to enhance service delivery and leadership.

“It is clear that to better serve the county and its residents, a more comprehensive look at existing systems is essential, which to be fair, have already been instituted and I wish them all the best in this regard,” the statement reads in part.
Raburu further highlighted that with the right structural adjustment, and a collective commitment to positive change, Nairobi County would have paved a way for a brighter future.
“My hope is that this decision will serve as a catalyst for the necessary transformation that our county deserves,” he added.
The journalist affirmed that he would keep on supporting Nairobi County but from a different vantage point.
“I thank the county leadership for the opportunities I have been given and look forward to witnessing the positive changes that will result from this pivotal moment,” Raburu said.

Raburu’s Career in Nairobi County
In July 2023, Willis Raburu took over the lucrative City Hall job after leaving Royal Media’s Citizen TV where he had served for 13 years.
The journalist was tasked with being Governor Sakaja’s Communications Director.
In this case, he was responsible for managing press relations and developing contacts with media members and influencers.
He was also the chair of the Nairobi Festival committee, a position which he has now resigned from.
