Salome Wanjiru Fails to Take Plea

Wanjiru failed to take her plea on Thursday, January 16.

Her lawyer told the court that she was unwell and required medical attention.

Wanjiru appeared in court with bandages on her hand, stating that a scheduled medical procedure the previous day had not been completed.

Her lawyer submitted a discharge summary as evidence, but it did not include details of any further procedures.

The Court deferred the plea-taking until Monday, January 20th, to allow time for Wanjiru’s treatment.

The court ordered that Wanjiru be taken to Kenyatta University Teaching, Research, and Referral Hospital for proper medical evaluation and then be remanded at Ruiru Police Station.

Additionally, the prosecution had earlier informed the court that a mental assessment had been conducted on Wanjiru, confirming that she was fit to take her plea.

“Let the investigations take place. We do not want anyone to interfere with this case; let justice be done for the family,” a family member emphasized.

The family said Conrad was planning to end his relationship with his girlfriend, which they believe could have led to the confrontation.

“He had already told some of our friends, who are ladies, ‘You know what? I want to break up with that lady.’ Conrad said that the lady was really a pain in the neck to him,” a family member said.
