Former U.S First Lady Michelle Obama has addressed reports that she will be running for presidency in the elections scheduled for November 5, 2024.
In a statement, Michelle Obama said she has no intentions to run for president.
Crystal Carson, Director of Communications for her office, revealed in the statement that she is actively supporting the reelection campaigns of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
“As former First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed several times over the years, she will not be running for president. Mrs. Obama supports President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ re-election campaign,” the statement read.
Her office made the clarification after a poll revealed that she was the leading candidate to replace Biden as the Democratic party’s candidate for the presidential elections.
Michelle Obama ranked favorite to replace Biden
In the Rasmussen Reports polls held in February, close to half of the Democrats who voted chose another candidate apart from Biden to fly the party’s flag in the November presidential elections.
38% of the Democrats voted for Biden compared to 48% who said the party should replace Biden with another candidate before the election.
Michelle Obama was the top option to replace President Biden with 20 per cent of votes cast by the Democrats.
The other contenders were Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

She said, “Politics is hard. And the people who get into it … you’ve got to want it. It’s got to be in your soul because it is so important. It is not in my soul.”
Speaking to Amtrak’s magazine, The National, she explained that she will help build the nation in other ways but not by running for the White House.
“Just between us, and the readers of this magazine — there’s zero chance,” Obama told Amtrak’s magazine The National.
“There are so many ways to improve this country and build a better world, and I keep doing plenty of them, from working with young people to helping families lead healthier lives. But sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office will never be one of them. It’s just not for me.”

Republicans doubt Biden’s Chances of running in the November polls
Some Republicans and Conservative commentators have speculated that Michelle Obama could replace Biden before the election.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz said the corporate media fears Biden loss and might replace him with Michelle Obama.
“I do think we are seeing the corporate media starting to turn on Joe Biden,” Ted Cruz said on his “Verdict” podcast last month.
“I believe there is a very significant chance the Democrat Party would pull the cord on Joe Biden, yank him out and replace him with Michelle Obama.”
Republicans’ candidate Donald Trump has also doubted whether Biden will actually be the Democrats’ candidate in the November election.
