Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers stationed at Parklands have arrested a man posing as a Kenya Defence Forces officer over an alleged fraudulent recruitment scam.
According to a statement by DCI, the suspect was arrested at his rented apartment in Kilimani, wearing full Kenya Air Force regalia.
The investigative unit noted that the suspect is accused of exploiting the dreams of young Kenyans by issuing fake recruitment letters in exchange for cash.
Fake Letters, Military Documents & Ammunition Manual found.
During a search at his rented apartment, DCI detectives recovered documents bearing the Ministry of Defence logo, including:
- Six fake admission letters bearing the same serial number
- Seven fingerprint forms
- Yilmaz Defence Industry ammunition manufacturing manual
The DCI stated that the suspect coordinated a money minting spree, promising youths a guaranteed entry into the Recruit Training School (RTS) in Eldoret.
He is currently in custody for processing ahead of his arraignment.

Earlier, Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri called for integrity and transparency ahead of the KDF recruitment exercise.
He noted that the trust and confidence of Kenyans in the military depends on a fair and merit-based process.
Following a nationwide recruitment exercise in October, the Defence Forces Recruit Training School (DFRTS) received recruits for Cohort 01 of 2025 on November 11.
The event was presided over by Brigadier Alphonce Ndar of KDF at Eldoret in Uasin Gishu County.

The DCI has since warned the public against taking shortcuts during the process, assuring them that the recruitment process is fair and transparent.
The investigative unit has also called on the public to report any suspicious activity to them.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is urging the public to remain vigilant and shun shortcuts in the security sector recruitment process, as genuine enlistment is free, fair, and transparent,” read the part of the post.
