A 45-year old man was Friday, May 27 sentenced to life imprisonment by an Eldoret Court for defiling his 10-year-old daughter.
The man who is a farmer from Muochet village in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County, was found guilty of incest and defilement by Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Menya.
“Having analysed the prosecution evidence, I concur that the prosecution has proved his case beyond reasonable doubt and I shall proceed to sentence the accused under section 215 of CPC,” ruled the magistrate, imposing a life sentence.
According to the prosecutor, the man who had separated from his wife due to a domestic row defiled the grade three pupil at his home in Muochet village in Keiyo South between in October 2018 and February 2019.
However, the father of five denied the charges during his arraignment on February 21, 2019 where he was later put on remand at Eldoret GK Prison during his trial.
The minor informed the court that her father defiled her mostly when they were home alone.
Furthermore, during his mitigation, the man asked for lenience saying he had five children in need of his care.
