The Norwegian Dawn is a cruise ship that operates under Norwegian Cruise Line.
The ship docked at the Port of Mombasa on Saturday, February 22, from Seychelles with more than 2,000 tourists. It is among the largest cruise ships to visit Mombasa.

The docking of the Norwegian Dawn comes weeks after MS World Odyssey arrived for the fourth time with international students and crew members.
Ruto Tours the Ship
President William Ruto and Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Davis Chirchir toured the cruise ship upon its docking in Mombasa.

“I am very happy to receive this Norwegian Dawn Ship when we are on the verge of expanding tourism numbers,” Ruto said.
The tourists on board will visit various sites in Mombasa as well as Tsavo, Wasini Island, and Amboseli National Parks.

“This will spur foreign investments and stimulate economic growth,” he said.
Norwegian Dawn Ship
The Norwegian Dawn Ship is registered in Nassau, Bahamas. The vessel has between 2340 to 2808 passenger capacity, 1010 crew members, and 1170 cabins.
It sails through a variety of destinations including, Caribbean Cruises with stops in the Bahamas, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.
Further, it goes on Bermuda voyages with round trips across Bermuda, and Canada through Nova Scotia.
The luxurious vessel is known for touring the Transatlantic and Mediterranean and Europe exploring various countries such as Italy, and Greece.
Inside the Cruise Ship
The ship has a tonnage of 92,250 with a length of 294 meters. It has decks hosting 11 passengers per deck.
The ship has inside staterooms, ocean view and balcony suites with high-end garden villa.
It is one of its kind that offers a laid-back intimate cruising experience with a wide range of cuisine options.
The ship has dined at guest-favourite Los Lobos Cantina, which is a sophisticated Mexican restaurant and a family wine bar.
In addition, it has a relaxed luxurious Mandara Spa and an expansive ship Casino. The Norwegian Dawn has spacious accommodations, swimming pools, and a sports arena for sporting activities.
It has a unique set of entertainment activities that include theatre shows, live music, and bars that offer comfort to the tourist.

Incidents at The Luxurious Cruise Ship
In 2005, the cruise ship had a rough time sailing through bad weather while returning to the Bahamas.
The wave incident caused injuries to the on-boarding passengers and windows broken.
Due to minor malfunctions and loss of power in 2015 near Bermuda, the ship’s steering went off course and hit a sandbar. However, there were no injuries or casualties on the ship.

History of the Cruise Ship
It was originally built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, and started sailing in 2002.
Additionally, the vessel allows freestyle cruising, allowing passengers flexibility in dining, and entertainment activities.
The ship became popular after its distinctive hull artwork featuring the Statue of Liberty that made it to be marketed for the New York-based cruises.
Besides, it started sailing through Caribbean cruises from Miami and over the years it was deployed to Bermuda, Canada, and transatlantic routes.
