Foreign policy advisor to the office of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Kamal Kharazi, has said there is “no room for diplomacy” with the United States and Israel, unless economic pressure increases to the point that other countries intervene to guarantee an end to what Tehran describes as American and Israeli aggression against Iran.
In an exclusive CNN interview in Tehran on March 9, Kamal Kharazi dismissed claims by the United States that Iran’s military capabilities have been significantly weakened, calling the statements a “false narrative.”
He added that Iran’s military remains strong and self-sufficient, stressing that the country produces its own weapons and does not rely on other nations for arms.
“There’s no room unless the economic pressure would be built up to the extent that other countries would intervene to guarantee this termination of aggression of Americans and Israelis against Iran,” he said.
“The Iranian military is quite strong, as you see, because they have the motivation, they have the arms that they need, which are produced in Iran. As a matter of fact, we are not dependent on any other country for weapons and arms.”
Kamal Kharazi added that the conflict could only end when the United States and Israel recognize that their current strategy against Iran is ineffective and halt what Tehran describes as aggression.
Iran Insists They have Upper Hand as Tensions Escalate
Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has said that China, France, and Russia have reached out regarding the possibility of a ceasefire as tensions with Israel and the United States escalate.
Speaking on Iranian state television on March 9, Gharibabadi said any ceasefire proposal would only be considered if Iran was certain that further attacks would not occur and if the United States and Israel accepted responsibility for their actions.
He also claimed that Iran currently holds the upper hand in the conflict, arguing that the military plans of the United States and Israel have failed to achieve their objectives.
