Kenyan Military officers under the Quick Reaction Force (KENQRF) have topped one of the United Nations’ (UN’s) most demanding military readiness evaluations.
The officers have been serving under the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO).
In a statement shared by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), the five-day Operational Effectiveness Inspection (OEI) was conducted from August 4 to 8, 2025.
The UN tested the troops’ rapid response capabilities, discipline, and adherence to strict UN guidelines.
Further, the test included both classroom-based assessments and real-world simulations of high-threat scenarios.
By the end of the inspection, the Kenyan contingent was officially rated mission-ready, with evaluators praising their professionalism and preparedness.

The review team, led by the Deputy Chief Evaluator, Major Uliah Shahzad Rafa, also included Major Fadwa Mohamed Elsayed and Major Bertrand Dominique Oudiane.
They praised the troops for their ability to adapt quickly to challenges and execute complex peacekeeping duties effectively.
“We are impressed by the professionalism, discipline, and adaptability you have all displayed. Your performance reflects a high level of training and preparedness that is essential in the primary task of protecting civilians, and we are certain that you will continue to work hard towards excellence,” said Deputy Chief Evaluator, Major Uliah Shahzad Rafa
His sentiments were reiterated by his colleagues, Major Fadwa Mohamed Elsayed and Major Bertrand Dominique Oudiane, both of whom also took part in the rigorous inspection.
On the other hand, the KENQRF 4 Contingent Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Seda, promised to put more effort into tightening any loose ends.
“Such external assessment is crucial as it focuses a third eye on areas that would otherwise escape our own evaluation. As such, we become better in line with the Kaizen philosophy,” he noted.
