As the country approaches the 2027 election, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is strengthening its grassroots by allowing membership registration.
The party states that membership is open to all Kenyans who have attained voting age and agree to the party’s set rules.
To join ODM, one must:
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Aged 18 and above.
Have a valid national ID or passport.
Not registered to any other political party.
ODM Membership Registration Process
Prospective members are required to agree to the party’s Code of Conduct and demonstrate loyalty to ODM’s values.

There are two main ways to register as a member.
Applicants can sign up online through the official ODM membership portal or by sending an SMS to a USSD Code.

Follow the prompts to select ODM as your party of choice.
Provide your details as requested through the USSD menu.
Give consent via an SMS from the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) to confirm your membership.
Members can also dial *483*036# to join the party.
According to the ODM constitution, membership fee is paid and not fixed.
Manual Registration
To register manually, a person follows the following steps:
- Obtain an application form from an ODM branch or office.
- Fill the form and attach a copy of your National ID or passport.
- Submit the form, and the party will process it and issue a membership card.
- Receive and respond to the consent SMS from the ORPP to finalize your membership.
ODM’s constitution specifies that membership fees must be paid before the issuance of certification, with categories such as ordinary, life, corporate, and group membership attracting different joining and annual subscription fees.
Becoming an ODM Delegate
To become a delegate, one must first register as a member.
A fee is paid depending on the elective position selected, such as Youth representative or Persons with Disabilities representative.
Registered members then participate in polling unit-level elections, where they are elected by their peers.
Elected members are eligible to apply for positions at the sub-branch (ward) and branch (constituency) levels.

Once elected, delegates can seek various positions through ODM’s official application process, available on the ODM website.
Registration to contest through the ODM Ticket
ODM hosts by-election nomination processes for national and county seats, like MCA, MP, Senatorial, and Gubernatorial. Members of the public nominate them.
At this stage, fees apply, such as Ksh 250,000 for male parliamentary candidates and Ksh 125,000 for women, youth, and PWDs, while county assembly aspirants pay Ksh 50,000 for men and Ksh 25,000 for the latter categories.
