A police officer based at Awendo police station is in custody after allegedly shooting dead his colleague.
Confirming the incident, Suna East sub county police commander Heasu Ochorokodi said the police officer identified as Sulubu allegedly shot dead his colleague Elijah using an AK-47 at around 6 a.m. on February 19, 2023.
It is reported that the incident took place within the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit armory area in Awendo Sub County.

Ochorokodi said the bullet entered through the right side of the chest and exited through the left rib. He said the officer was rushed to Rapcom hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The sub county police commander said the motive of the killing has not been established adding that investigations are underway.
Mr.Ochorokodi said the accused was arrested immediately in his house after the shooting and he is being detained at Migori police station pending further investigations and arraignment in court.
