The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)runway is now opened and operations at the airport have resumed.
JKIA announced resumption of operations at the airport after the stalled aircraft was cleared from the runway.

Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen had through his tweeter account urged travelers to be patient as the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was working to remove the cargo plane that had technical issues during takeoff.
As a result, the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) temporarily suspended all incoming and outgoing flights.
“We are doing everything possible to remove the aircraft from the runway and to resume normal business. Thank you for your patience,” tweeted Murkomen.
Moreover, a Kenya Airways flight from New York registered as KQ3 was diverted to Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport following the runway closure at Nairobi’s JKIA. It was expected at 10.30am Monday, April 17.
Likewise, the runway closure affected KQ205 from Mumbai, India which was expected to arrive at JKIA at 10.50am. The status of the flight was indicated as “delayed”.

Nonetheless, through a statement released on Monday, April 17, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) announced that the aborted landing of a cargo plane caused the closure of the runway as they work to resolve the situation.
In addition, the airport’s management team highlighted that their primary concern is to ensure the safety of all passengers.
“We are fully committed to the safety of all travelers and are collaborating closely with the appropriate authorities to resolve this situation as quickly and safely as possible,” the KAA stated.
They advised passengers to contact their airlines for further information on the status of their flights.
