Raganga Secondary School is a public mixed secondary school located in Kitutu Chache South, Kisii County.
It offers a supportive academic environment, categorized under the C4 level in the new Competency-based education (CBE) curriculum, and has recently been in the news due to parental protests over the 2025 KCSE examination results.
Raganga Secondary School History
The school was established in 1992 and operates under the motto “Education for Life”.
For much of its history, the school has struggled with academic outcomes in the KCSE examinations. While it achieved a mean score of 5.92 (C-) in 2015, it has since steadily declined into the D range.

Historically, the school admits students with lower primary (KCPE) entry marks, often ranging between 100 and 200 points, which the administration cited as a primary challenge for achieving high exit grades.
2025 Performance
In the recently released KCSE results for the 2025 examinations, the top student in the school scored a mean grade of D, with most students receiving grades D- and E, like last year’s performance, giving the school an overall mean grade of D- OF 2.235 points.
On January 12, 2026, angry parents stormed the school to protest what they described as poor performance in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The protests led to the locking of the principal’s office being locked and to teachers fleeing the school grounds. The school administration is preparing to hold a meeting with parents to discuss the challenges.

Following a successful transition, the school is currently in the process of admitting its first cohort of Grade 10 students under the senior secondary school transition of the CBE system.
Previous Results
The school has recorded a consecutive poor performance for 7 straight years, with the overall mean grade not going above 3.5 points.
- 2025- the overall points were 2.235 (D-), with the top candidate attaining a D.
- 2024 – the school recorded a mean grade point of 3.433, marking an improvement from the previous year’s performance.
- 2023 – Raganga school had a mean grade of D with 2.923 points.
- 2019 – marked a 3.142 performance, a drop from 2018, when the school had a mean score of 3.570.
- In 2017, the score was 2.960 points, another drop from 2016, when the school had a mean of 3.500 points.
- 2015 was the school’s best year as it recorded an exemplary performance of a C-, of 5.920 points, acting as its most recent relatively strong performance

Public Day Secondary Schools: Parents are expected to pay approximately KSh 9,374 per year in tuition, with the government providing a capitation grant of KSh 12,870.
Boarding Schools- Standardized annual boarding fees are set at KSh 53,554.
Mandatory Levies of a standardized additional fee that includes KSh 2,000 for maintenance and repairs, KSh 20,371 for utilities, personal items, and administration.
