The Social Health Authority (SHA)’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, has announced tenders for Healthcare Providers to offer services to Kenyans overseas.
In a statement on Friday, January 2, 2026, SHA invited expressions of interest from qualified and licensed health providers that provide specialized healthcare services not available in Kenya to SHA beneficiaries.
“The Government of Kenya, through the Social Health Authority (SHA), invites Expressions of Interest (BOIs) from qualified and licensed overseas Healthcare Providers (HCPs) for the provision of specialized healthcare services not available in Kenya to beneficiaries of the Social Health Authority, in accordance with the Social Health Insurance [SHI] Act, No. 16 of 2023,” read part of the statement.
In addition, interested candidates have been urged to access and complete tender documents free of charge from the SHA website and through relevant Kenyan Embassies and High Commissions.
“Eligible overseas Healthcare Providers (HCPs) shall access and complete the tender document free of charge from the Social Health Authority (SHA) website www.sha.go.ke, the Public Procurement Information Portal www.tenders.go.ke, local offices, and through relevant Kenyan Embassies and High Commissions,” read part of the statement.
SHA Requirements for Health Providers for Overseas Treatment
According to the SHA authority, interested overseas Healthcare Providers must meet several mandatory requirements, which include:
- A Certificate of Registration or Incorporation under the relevant law applicable to the tenderer.
- A valid Power of Attorney authorizing the signatory to bind the institution.
- An itemized cost of treatment and related services (Price List) for the interventions the provider can offer, as updated on the SHA Website and negotiated for POMSF beneficiaries.
- A Profile or Corporate Overview in PDF format.
- Evidence of accreditation by the recognized accreditation body in the country of origin and recognition by the relevant authority in Kenya.

- Evidence of linkage (partnership) with an empaneled and contracted healthcare facility to follow up on treatment and management of beneficiaries in the Kenya Essential Package for Health (KEPH) Level V or VI.
- Valid and up-to-date licenses for specialist doctors practicing in the healthcare provider who will deliver services purchased by the Authority.
All mandatory documents must be submitted on the HCP’s official letterhead, duly certified by a Notary Public, stamped, signed, and dated by an authorized signatory. Non-responsive submissions will be disqualified, though applicants may reapply once all documents are complete.
Application and Submission Process
The Eligible oversees Healthcare Providers (HCPs)shall access and complete the tender document free of charge from the Social Health Authority (SHA) website www.sha.go.ke, the Public Procurement Information Portal www.tenders.go.ke, Local Delics, and through relevant Kenyan Embassies and High Commissions.
Meanwhile, all Applications must be fully completed and submitted within fourteen (14) days from the date of commencement of the application through the Authority’s email: tenders she.go.ke
However, Incomplete applications shall automatically lapse and may be resubmitted as new applications.
Therefore, Contracting and execution of contracts will be undertaken manually in the initial stage, where successful candidates will be notified in writing of the outcome of their applications through their respective emails.

Upon notification, successful Healthcare Providers will be required to physically or electronically execute the contract documents within seven days, through their authorized signatories, and thereafter the executed contracts will be countersigned by the Accounting Officer of the Social Health Authority.
In addition, the Online submission of applications should be made via the Authority’s official email address at tenders sha.go.ke.
The authority has stated that it reserves the right to verify submitted information, negotiate tariffs, and continuously empanel overseas facilities during the contract cycle.
The list of contracted overseas healthcare providers will be published in the Kenya Gazette, the SHA website, and other lawful platforms.
