Starlink customers in Kenya are experiencing service disruptions after missing a mandatory identity verification deadline set by regulators.
The enforcement follows directives from the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), requiring all users to complete in-person registration.
Affected Starlink subscribers have begun receiving suspension alerts as the system enforces compliance measures.
Mandatory Verification Requirement and Regulatory Directive
The Communications Authority of Kenya required all Starlink users to complete an in-person identity verification process as part of efforts to enhance accountability in satellite internet services.

The directive includes the submission of personal details, such as full names, national identification documents, and biometric data, at authorized verification points.
CA introduced the measure to strengthen digital security frameworks, reduce fraud, and ensure that all active subscribers are properly registered under national telecommunications regulations.
The compliance deadline was set for April 30, 2026, after which non-verified accounts would face restrictions.
Following the expiry of the deadline, enforcement has begun, with users who did not comply now experiencing service suspensions or restricted connectivity.
Service Suspension Notifications to Users
Affected customers have started receiving automated system messages informing them of the suspension of their accounts.
The notification states that access has been disabled due to failure to meet regulatory requirements
According to Starlink, the interruption is linked to regulatory compliance rather than billing issues or technical faults.
Suspension of accounts will remain in place until users complete the required verification process.
“As required by local authorities, your Starlink service for ACCOUNT (XXX) has been suspended until required information has been submitted and verified. If you have not done so, please submit your required information,” read the message

Restoration Process and Ongoing Compliance Enforcement
Starlink users whose accounts have been suspended can restore access by completing the mandatory in-person verification process.
This involves visiting approved verification centers or authorized retail agents where identity documents and biometric information are validated against existing registration records.
Once the verification process is successfully completed, service restoration is expected after confirmation.
