Former Sports, Culture and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Amina Mohamed has landed a new job as a University Chancellor.
Amina has been appointed as the new Chancellor of the International University of East Africa (IUEA) in Uganda.
Ambassador Mohamed replaces Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile who passed on in January last year.
“Today IUEA installed Amb. Dr. Amina Chawahir Mohamed. We are positive that the Chancellor’s leadership will be instrumental in guiding the institution towards more outstanding achievements,” the university said.

In her acceptance note Amina Mohamed said “To the students, today and tomorrow belong to you. I will do my best to make sure you are equipped with the tools that will magnify and amplify your chances of success in life.”
Amina served in the Cabinet of former President Uhuru Kenyatta as foreign affairs cabinet secretary, Education cabinet secretary and latter sports cabinet secretary.
She previously served as chairwoman of the International Organization for Migration and the World Trade Organization’s General Council, as well as Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme.
She also served as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative for the Kenya diplomatic mission in Geneva.
