Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome has cautioned citizens from causing chaos during the Monday, March 27 demonstrations planned by opposition leader Raila Odinga and his team.
The inspector general of police on Sunday, March 26 stated that demonstrators intending to cause chaos will not be permitted to access the city center.
Likewise, IG Japhet Koome said they will be barred from leaving their respective residential estates.
Moreover, the IG reported that security teams are ready for the protest, adding that they will not be lenient to those found with “offensive weapons” including stones, machetes, and rungus.
“We have visitors from many foreign nations, and we will not allow anything to happen in our capital city. Everyone has the right to go into the city center,” he said.
IG Japhet Koome further noted that he has the responsibility of protecting lives and property, adding that he will not sleep on the job.
“Whichever level or status you have in society. I have enough land cruisers to take you away to jail and be there for a lifetime.” Koome said.

In addition, the police boss reported that his team will make sure there is peace in Nairobi CBD, assuring Kenyans of safety as they report to their respective workplaces.
“We are ready as the police to ensure that there is calm in the entire country starting with Nairobi. Every Kenyan should go on with their work tomorrow. Ours is to ensure that every corner of this country is secure and safe. This is our country, and I would urge all of us to be proud to be Kenyans.” Japhet Koome said.
Nevertheless, the police IG also refuted the reason fueling the demonstrations saying that they are fully politically motivated and should be politically solved instead of wreaking havoc in the nation.
The statement by the inspector general comes after a turned-chaotic-protest witnessed Monday las week where several people were injured, one shot dead and colossal amounts of property destroyed in the CBD.
